What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese system of healing, which strengthens the body’s natural ability to heal itself.
Reiki is a non-invasive treatment for physical and emotional wellbeing and is a very relaxing therapy, treating the whole body, and is particularly beneficial for treating stress.
It is a non-pressure treatment with the hands placed gently on or close to the body. The recipient remains fully clothed for this treatment. (Please note this is NOT a massage treatment).
Today Reiki is being used at home, in hospices and hospitals as a complementary therapy accessible to all, male and female, young and old. Treatment addresses physical, mental and emotional health. It must however be understood that Reiki does NOT replace conventional medicine but works alongside it.
Reiki Deep Relaxation Therapy with Chrissy
I am a qualified Reiki Master Practitioner and have been practising Reiki Deep Relaxation Therapy for over a decade. I work with clients from all walks of life, from rugby players through to cancer patients and pregnant mums, relieving stress, easing pain and aiding the natural healing of injuries.
“I never thought Reiki could help persistent muscular pain, but it not only left me pain free, it left me feeling calmer and really relaxed. Simply amazing! I’m going to continue to have regular treatments and I would recommend to anyone who is sceptical to the power of Reiki to try it! Thanks Chrissy.” – JS
I work with each client individually, tailoring treatments to their requirements. I treat clients at my practice, a rural retreat in Hanley Castle. I am also fully qualified and insured to work with animals.
“I am a client of Chrissy’s and was extremely sceptical when I first went to her for problems with my sleeping. I haven’t slept properly for years. It works! I am now a believer, and am seeing her for a severe shoulder problem. She also works regularly on my dogs with amazing results” – CR

Reiki – Effective Therapy or Placebo?
Reiki is the most amazing and confounding energy and for many years has been a subject of controversy in the medical and scientific world, as well as general society. In fact it has created enough of a stir, interest, support and positive outcomes to cause studies, trials and research to have taken place and to continue to do so.
There have been mixed results and although not conclusive, it is generally agreed that more research is needed and Reiki is not something to be easily dismissed. So the jury is still out on Reiki in the world of science and medicine, and personally I cannot explain it, but I no longer question it’s existence or how it works and regardless of beliefs, it is clear that Reiki is “here to stay”.
Is Reiki safe?
However, one thing is certain there are no contraindications to Reiki and whether you choose to believe in this elusive energy or not, it has been concluded by both the scientific and medical world, that it does no harm and is safe for all, from babies to the elderly.
Does Reiki really work? My conclusion
My Reiki treatments are 45 mins long, but please allow at least an hour for a short consultation, and to give yourself time to re-connect afterwards ready to step back into daily life.
If nothing else these sessions are deeply relaxing enabling you to really switch off and benefit from a precious moment of “me time”.
